PET bottles, have certainly revolutionized the industry, especially that of beverages, for its flexibility and low cost. However,, incorrect disposal of these bottles has caused them to be labeled as villains of the environment. Indeed, PET bottles clog manholes, galleries and contribute to floods in urban areas when incorrectly disposed of.
The PET bottle collection campaign, started in February 2011 in all units of the Group, is coordinated by the EMC Program (Continuous Improvement Teams), that collect points per kg collected and destined for recycling. Teams mobilize their families and neighborhoods to collect as many bottles as possible and convert them into points.
From the beginning of the campaign until January 2013, were collected 6.6 tons of PET bottles, equivalent to 124 thousand units, that have been removed from the environment and recycled. That number grows every day, the campaign is continuous!
