Several states in the country were hit by the rains at the beginning of 2012. Therefore, Copobras Group promoted a campaign to collect clothes, foods, personal effects, hygiene and cleaning products, mattresses and bedding, in all units of the Group, enabling and organizing donations from employees and communities.
At our headquarters located in São Ludgero (SC), donations would initially go to Rio de Janeiro, however, at the end of our campaign, the carioca authorities informed us that there were no places available to receive donations. In that time, the states of Santa Catarina and Minas Gerais also suffered damage from the rains. Thus, donations received in São Ludgero, were distributed to affected families in the city and region in partnership with CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center), according to the survey of needy families in the city hall.
At the Marialva unit (PR), donations were sent to day care centers and nursing homes in the city. João Pessoa's donations (PB) were sent to Minas Gerais, that together with donations from the Carmópolis de Minas unit (MG), met the needs of mining families affected by the rains, especially in the municipality of Guaraciaba (MG). Lastly, donations from Manaus – AM were sent to Rio de Janeiro by Brazilian Army planes.
We would like to thank you all once again for your support in this campaign that shows the solidarity of the community around our units.
