The company's headquarters, located in São Ludgero, reaches the index of 100% of recyclability with the correct destination of waste from the production of disposables and flexible packaging. Once collected, the waste is sent to specialized recycling cooperatives. Even the ashes of the industrial boiler are destined for the production of aviary mattresses. Tows go through coprocessing (energy recovery).
The Copobras Group Environment Department points out that the company invests heavily in selective collection to achieve the percentage of recyclability. "From 2010 we started to perfect the selective collection project so that it would gain even more effectiveness. We invest heavily in raising awareness in the areas of sustainability and selective collection with group employees. We reap good fruits, as the index of 100% recyclability, that is, almost all of our waste is sent for recycling, and no longer for landfills ”, stresses Renan Niehues Nunes, Copobras Group Environmental and Work Safety Engineer.
Selective collection is done by making trash bins available in the entire physical space of the company with an indication of the materials that must be deposited in each container. Later, the waste is sent to recycling companies in Santa Catarina.
In the month of November 2016, in partnership with the company Santa Luzia, a Voluntary Delivery Point - PEV was implanted in front of the Copobras III unit, enabling people to correctly dispose of materials such as lunch boxes, trays, EPS / XPS cups and plates (Styrofoam), among others. There is an intention to expand this project, envisioning even facilitating the fulfillment of what the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS) lays down, with regard to reverse product logistics.
“This is another of the initiatives that we have implemented with the objective of promoting sustainable development through reverse logistics, which is a system that allows the return of materials that, after consumption, return to a new industrial activity. We can use the Styrofoam tray as an example, that after use and proper disposal can be used in the manufacture of residential baseboards ”, explains Nunes.
Implementation of ENP is also one of the focuses of the Packaging Coalition, led by the Business Commitment to Recycling - CEMPRE, that operates in the implementation of the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS). The Copobras Group is one of the companies that signed the Sectorial Packaging Agreement.
